Ayurveda Wisdom
Ancient Science for Modern Living
Your Unique Blueprint
Ayurveda teaches that health is not a “one size fits all” concept. We are all comprised of five elements—Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether—that combine to form three primary energies called Doshas. Understanding your dominant Dosha is the key to unlocking vitality and preventing illness.
The Elemental Composition
Each Dosha is a combination of two specific elements. This composition dictates the physical and emotional nature of the individual.
Vata
The Energy of Movement
Role: Controls breathing, blinking, and circulation.
Imbalance: Anxiety, dry skin, bloating.
Pitta
The Energy of Transformation
Role: Governs digestion, metabolism, and intelligence.
Imbalance: Anger, inflammation, heartburn.
Kapha
The Energy of Structure
Role: Provides hydration, strength, and immunity.
Imbalance: Lethargy, weight gain, congestion.
The Nature of Energies
To balance a Dosha, Ayurveda applies the principle of “Like increases Like, and Opposites Balance.”
For example, Vata is naturally cold and dry. Therefore, a Vata person should avoid raw salads (cold/dry) and favor warm soups (hot/wet) to maintain equilibrium. The chart illustrates the inherent qualities of each Dosha.
- Vata: Cold, Dry, Light, Mobile
- Pitta: Hot, Oily, Sharp, Light
- Kapha: Cold, Oily, Heavy, Stable
Agni: The Digestive Fire
“You are not what you eat, but what you digest.” Your internal fire (Agni) mimics the sun. It is weak in the morning and evening, and strongest at noon.
Dinacharya: The Daily Rhythm
Aligning your daily activities with natural cycles creates automatic wellness.
6:00 AM
The Vata Hour
Wake Up & Hydrate
Rise before the sun to catch nature’s movement energy. Drink warm lemon water to flush toxins.
6:30 AM
Activation
Movement & Yoga
Gentle exercise stimulates circulation and clears heaviness (Kapha) from the body.
12:00 PM
The Pitta Peak
Main Meal
Eat your heaviest, most nutritious meal now. Your digestive fire is blazing, ensuring proper nutrient absorption.
9:30 PM
Return to Kapha
Digital Detox & Sleep
Turn off screens to calm the mind. Sleep by 10 PM to allow the body to repair itself during the night.
Modern Challenges vs. Ancient Cures
Modern life often aggravates our Doshas. Excessive screen time increases Vata (anxiety), while sedentary jobs increase Kapha (lethargy).
The chart demonstrates the estimated “Balancing Effect” of adopting specific Ayurvedic habits versus the “Destabilizing Effect” of common modern stressors.
“Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create.”
